Regenerating Urban Land

A Practitioner’s Guide to Leveraging Private Investment

2016

Eparque founder Rana Amirtahmasebi was the lead author/editor of this book, which aims to be a practical tool for city managers and planning officials, providing them with a variety of options for conceiving and implementing large-scale urban regeneration projects. It works as an introductory primer for a technical team seeking to learn about regeneration and the broad array of options available for implementing a regeneration project. The experience of eight cities from different parts of the world are highlighted as they progress through the four phases of urban regeneration: scoping, planning, financing, and implementation. With these models as reference points, cities can develop their own projects in line with their own unique circumstances (financial situation, technical capacity, timeline, and priorities).

Three mayors and ex-mayors have endorsed the book: Mayor Park Won-soon (Seoul, Korea) Mayor Anthony Williams (Washington, DC, USA) and Mayor Khalifa Sall (Dakar, Senegal).
