Leveraging Urbanization and Governance for Growth in Africa

A Framework for Action

This policy paper  summarizes potential opportunities to leverage urbanization in Africa for economic growth and highlights priority areas of engagement for a future joint UNDP/UNHABITAT task force on urbanization. It also provides a comprehensive but summarized shopping list of ideas for a framework of action for that task force and identifies key players and partners in the Africa region who might become long-term partners in transformative collaboration. This paper will guide the joint efforts of the two sister UN agencies as they in turn guide development plans and policies at the country level.
