Culture Counts:
Partnership Activities of the World Bank and Italian Development Cooperation on Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development
From 2000 to 2013, the Italian government and the World Bank partnered in the Trust Fund for Culture and Sustainable Development. The goal of the fund was to promote the role of culture in sustainable development and as a resource to be leveraged in the development process more generally. The Italian government contributed nearly $8 million to the fund, which was allocated in the form of grants to 49 activities. In this report, Eparque assesses the outcomes of those grants and formulates lessons the collaboration offers for future programs of this kind.
